It has been agreed that an exceptional absence of 7 days maximum during the defined Christmas holiday period (17 December 2022 – 16 January 2023 inclusive), will be facilitated.
This is in addition to the 7-day exceptional absence provided for in the regular Absence Protocol, as approved in July 2022.
At all times, parents/ legal guardians remain responsible for minors in their care, who cannot be left unaccompanied in accommodation under any circumstances.
Responsibility for personal effects during an absence remains at the risk of the individuals; given the pressure on storage facilities, UCTAT reserves the right to dispose of items left in long-term storage (beyond 60 days).
Details of the absence should be documented in an Exceptional Absence Notification document, with “Christmas 2022” noted as the reason for the absence.
As with all absences, the notification documentation should be submitted to UCTAT ( ukrainetempaccom@equality.gov.ie ).
One absence to a maximum 7 calendar days within that defined period may be facilitated, subject to prior notification to the facility manager.
A Christmas absence cannot be added to a regular absence i.e. it is not possible to facilitate a 14-day absence (7 days for Christmas + 7 days of a regular absence).
Where an individual fails to return to accommodation beyond the seventh day, the provisions of the Absence Protocol apply to re-allocate the accommodation as needed, in consultation with UCTAT.
