What We Heard – National Financial Literacy Stakeholder Event, 5 July 2024

On 5 July 2024, the Department of Finance held an event at Supervalu Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Cork, which gathered together stakeholders in Ireland’s financial literacy eco-system to discuss the key priorities and targets for Ireland’s first National Financial Literacy Strategy. The stakeholder event was held following publication of the Mapping Report on the Development of a National Financial Literacy Strategy on 19 April 2024 and in advance of the publication of the Strategy at the end of the year.
“ What We Heard ” highlights some of the recurring themes and priorities the Department heard from stakeholders during breakout discussion groups held at the event. These discussions focused on recommendations identified in the Mapping Report for the Strategy to target.

Further discussion groups were held to discuss the monitoring and evaluation of financial literacy initiatives and the delivery of a national strategy.
This feedback is an important aid in shaping the priorities and provides important direction for the overall development of Strategy. The Department of Finance looks forward to continuing our work with stakeholders over the coming months to coordinate our work, target our efforts, and publish Ireland’s first National Financial Literacy Strategy before the end of 2024.
