Local Authorities will be eligible for two schemes aimed at thermal and energy efficiency retrofits of social housing.
One will retrofit up to 2,000 apartments in the cities of Dublin, Limerick, and Cork. The other will offer insulation retrofits of occupied houses and full retrofits of vacant houses in all local authority areas.
For more information, go to the Department of Housing’s website.
As part of the on-board investments portion of the Sustainable Fisheries Scheme, €3 million worth of grants will be available for replacing Fishing Vessel engines with more energy efficient alternatives.
To find out more about this scheme, please take a look at the Bord Iascaigh Mhara website.
This scheme is run by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. Houses built before 2006 are eligible for grants at no cost to homeowners. Grants for energy efficiency measures are targeted at low-income households.
An example of this kind of support is given in this case study.

The Beef Data Genomic Programme incentivises farmers to undertake a range of actions designed to deliver accelerated genetic improvement in the quality of the beef herd and, as a result, the associated climate benefits such as reduced emissions intensity.
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine coordinate activities with trained advisers and beef farmers to achieve worthwhile effects on their herd’s carbon footprint. Learn more in the full report.
