You can make an application to the Payment Scheme for yourself (a self-application), or on behalf of another person.
An application on behalf of another person can be made in two circumstances:
• where you are acting on behalf of someone who may be eligible for the Payment Scheme and there is a formal arrangement in place to allow you to act as their support person. This is referred to as a support application.
• where you are a personal representative acting on behalf of the estate of a deceased person you believe was eligible for the scheme, who died on or after 13th January 2021. This is referred to as an estate application.
If you would like your solicitor to deal with us, this will be facilitated once you provide a signed authority. Such applications are regarded as self-applications, as although your solicitor will be engaged with the Payment Scheme Office all decisions on the application will be made by you. Click on the Self-Application link below for further information.
Further FAQs on each type of application can found by clicking the links below.
Information on each type of application is also available in the Information Booklet.
