The Applicant was walking on [ ] when he was assaulted without warning or provocation by a person called [ ]. As a result of the incident the Applicant required [ ] stitches in his leg and stitches in his arm and he was left with severe scarring which is permanent. The Applicant did not submit any vouchers in respect of special damages as a result of the incident although in his application form he submitted that he suffered damage in the sum of €250 in respect of the clothes he was wearing on the day. The Tribunal is only empowered to award special damages in respect of vouched expenses arising as a result of personal injuries suffered from a crime of violence. In circumstances where the Applicant has not submitted any vouchers to the Tribunal, no award is made in this instance.
