A School can apply for funding to establish a special class approved by the NCSE in the school.
There are three grants available for establishing a special class:
Start-up grant: €6,500;
Furniture grant: €2,500;
ICT grant: €6,700.
In respect of special classes which are opening in the existing school buildings and are not part of any building project, the application can be submitted to furnitureequipment@education.gov.ie along with the below documentation :
1) Application form
2) Supporting letter from the relevant ETB, if applicable (where the school is under the patronage of an ETB);
3) NCSE approval letter for the special class.
If the application is approved, the school will receive a Purchase Order number, confirming that funding has been approved and the money will be transferred to the school’s bank account.
