The Department of Rural and Community Development has put in place a policy, and procedures, relating to the handling of Protected Disclosures, which can be found below.
These have been developed in line with the Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022 and outline how workers can make a disclosure, the way in which such disclosures are handled and what the Department will do to protect the discloser.
The Protected Disclosures Act 2014 has been amended by the new legislation which came into force on 1st January 2023.
It is important that the Department provides the safest means for workers to make a disclosure so that they feel comfortable in making such disclosures. A dedicated email address Protected_disclosures@drcd.gov.ie has been established to make disclosures.
For disclosures to Ministers the following email addresses have been established: drcdministerprotecteddisclosures@drcd.gov.ie
or
Section 30 of the Protected Disclosures (Amendment) Act 2022 requires that Departments report annually on the protected disclosures received. The Department of Rural and Community Development was established in 2017 and, to the end of 2022, had received two Protected Disclosures.
