The following documents (sample letters and schedule of records) have been published to facilitate AIE officers and decision makers in responding to Access to Information on the Environment (AIE) requests. They are not legal documents. Public authorities may use these as templates in preparing response to AIE requests but should read the content of each letter carefully and amend, as appropriate, for each response.

AIE Letter 2 - A request which could reasonably be regarded as an AIE request but was not made under the AIE Regulations
AIE Letter 3 - Refusal - records cannot be located; do not exist and public body not aware of other, more appropriate public body
AIE Letter 3a - Refusal - records not held but public body is aware that information requested is held by another public authority
AIE Letter 3b - Refusal - records not held, notice of transfer of AIE request to known contact point
AIE Letter 4 - Refinement of request - request is made in too general a manner
AIE Letter 5 - Refinement of request - request is manifestly unreasonable having regard to the volume or range of information sought
AIE Letter 8 - Third Party Consultation - decision letter to third party after Article 7(11) consultation - refusal of third party information
AIE Letter 9 - Third Party Consultation - decision letter to third party after Article 7(11) consultation - granting of third party information
AIE Letter 10 - Third Party Consultation - decision letter to applicant after third party consultation - grant of third party information
AIE Letter 11 - Consultation - decision letter to applicant after third party consultation - refusal of third party information
AIE Letter 12 - Decision Letter - granting of records in a form other than that requested
AIE Letter 15 - Decision Letter - partial grant partial refusal in a form or manner other than that requested
AIE Letter 16 - Decision Letter -Manifestly unreasonable - discretionary grounds for refusal under Article 9(2)(a)
AIE Letter 17 - Decision Letter - refusal - Formulated in too general a manner - and failure by to narrow request under Article 7(8) - Discretionary grounds for refusal
AIE Letter 19 - Decision Letter - Refusal of Records Not Environmental Information
AIE Letter 23 - Internal Review Decision Letter - Annul Previous Decision
