The Sláintecare Right Care Right Place Right Time webinar “The role of Advanced Nursing and Midwifery Practitioners in implementing the Sláintecare health reform programme” went live on Thursday 8th December 2022.
The focus of the webinar was to showcase Advanced Nursing and Midwifery Practitioner Services and examine the real impact these services are having on some of the key challenges in the health service.
The model of care provided by nurses and midwives in specialist and advanced practice roles goes a long way towards ensuring that care is delivered by the right person, at the right time and in the right place, which is Sláintecare in action.
The webinar opened with a message from Kelly Mofflin, Deputy Chief Nursing Officer at the Dept of Health. We then heard from three Advanced Nursing and Midwifery Practitioners – Edel Carey (RAND), Maurice Healy (RAND) and Ciara Coveney (RAMP), who provide alternative pathways for patients and are improving patient access to services. Bryan and his partner Úna told us how they are benefiting from attending the Féileacán Bán Nursing Service.
Kelly Mofflin, Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, Dept of Health, Dr Geraldine Shaw , Nursing and Midwifery Service Director (ONMSD), Paul Gallagher, Chief DON&M Ireland East Hospital Group and Dr Emer Ahern National Clinical Advisor & Group Lead Older Persons Clinical Design & Innovation, HSE joined us for a panel discussion chaired by Gráinne Healy.
