Project title: The Last Green Mile
Organisation: Leitrim County Council
Sector: Local Government
Amount awarded: €47,000
Leitrim County Council will conduct active research on identifying solutions for sustainable rural mobility. The project team intend to develop a model based on Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) activating a shift away from privately owned modes of transportation towards shared mobility solutions (from public and private operators) to be offered and utilised as a service.
Intended outcomes:
1. Conduct key stakeholder engagement to capture a deeper understanding of mobility patterns & behaviours and quantification of demand for services (qualitative and quantitative data) using design led co-creation models of engagement.
2. Conduct data collection & geo-profiling of demand (in correlation with existing transport infrastructure) to determine optimal locations for mobility hubs, services and pilots.
3. Complete the development of models of service delivery that are both economically and environmentally sustainable to support the drafting of a business case and identifying the level of public subvention.
4. Commence the integration of developed models with existing services. Proposals may include the creation of a multimodal mobility solution to allow citizens to access, in one digital place, all the mobility-related infrastructural information they require to carry out their daily activities as a Mobility as a Service model.
