Migration is a worrying and traumatic experience and newly arrived migrants in a new country suffer from different encounters and struggle to relate to parenting in a new culture that is different from their home country.
It is recognised that supporting parents is a very important element of the work to improve outcomes for children and young people. Children do better when they have a close and positive relationship with their parents.
The International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) have developed a Parenting Guide to help families in our Accommodation Centres be aware of their responsibilities for the safety and wellbeing of their children.
