The Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport is undertaking this consultation as part of the process of developing Ireland’s position on the proposals.
Package Travel and Assisted Travel Arrangements Directive Proposed by the European Commission
This consultation paper is issued by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. The Department invites views and comments on the European Commission’s proposal for a Directive concerning package travel and assisted travel arrangements.

Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail Submission to Package Travel and Assisted Travel Arrangements Directive
Irish Rails main concerns relate to the proposed scope of the new Directive, and in particular, the definition of package travel, and the new concept of ‘assisted travel arrangements’.
Response of the Irish travel agents association to the consultation
The ITAA welcomes the revision of the Package Travel Directive; all the while urging “the maintenance of a high level of consumer protection while ensuring a level-playing field among all actors in the travel market.

ITOA support the revision of the Package Travel Directive so as to modernize elements that provide greater clarity and certainty for consumers and create a level playing field for traditional retail travel and tour operators with on-line travel businesses.
