Irish Brexit Legislation (2020)
The Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2020 was adopted following the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. It makes legislative changes arising from the UK-EU Withdrawal Agreement. The overarching aim of the Act is to protect citizens and consumers, facilitate the sound functioning of key sectors, and ensure our businesses are not disadvantaged. The 2020 Act also supports aspects of the Common Travel Area and North-South cooperation.
Irish Brexit Legislation (2019)
The Withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (Consequential Provisions) Act 2019 (Brexit Omnibus Act) was enacted on 17 March 2019 as part of preparations for a possible no deal Brexit in 2019. Many of the provisions of the 2019 Act were not commenced because the Withdrawal Agreement was ultimately concluded and entered into force.
