An Post are the Agent for TV Licence sales, as set out in Section 145 of the Broadcasting Act.
Weekly and monthly TV Licence sales information, as reported by An Post, is available in the PDF below. In interpreting this data, the following points should be borne in mind:
• While most weeks will have 5 sales days, weeks at the beginning and end of a month, as well as weeks that include bank holidays, may be shorter. To facilitate accurate weekly year-on-year comparison, the number of sales days are provided.
• Sales tend to fluctuate from week to week, so comparing a single week in isolation across years is of questionable validity.
• An Post record direct debit purchases on a monthly basis, so these sales are not included in the weekly sales totals.
• Monthly totals include licence sales and direct debits and are considered to be better comparators than weekly sales.
• Sales days in any given month will tend to slightly differ from one year to another and this may impact annual comparison.
The most up-to-date weekly and monthly sales figures since July 2022 can be found below. This will be updated weekly.
