35,358 homes commenced in first seven months of 2024
There were 1,574 homes commenced in July 2024.
For the first seven months of 2024 (January – July), there were 35,358 homes commenced, close to double (up 91%) the 18,546 in those months of 2023. This equates to on average 240 approx homes commenced every working day to the end of July.

In the last 12 months (August 2023 to July 2024) there has been 49,613 units commenced, up 72% from 28,916 in the prior 12 months (August 2022 to July 2023).

Of all the homes commenced in the first seven months of 2024 (Jan-July), 35% were in the four Dublin local authorities. By Local authority, the most units commenced this year so far have been in Dublin City (5,197) followed by Cork City (3,447) and Fingal (3,341). The lowest number of units commenced have been in Leitrim (50), Longford (75) and Roscommon (104).
