CAP Strategic Plan Screening Report for Appropriate Assessment

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) is preparing the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy for Ireland, 2023-2027.
Under Regulation 42(1) of the EC (Birds and Natural Habitats) Regulations, 2011 (as amended), an initial screening for Appropriate Assessment of the CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027 is required. Screening has been carried out by our external consultants and it has been concluded that the draft CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027 will be subject to a full Appropriate Assessment.
Current proposals are for member states to submit their plan to the EU Commission on 1st January 2022. Negotiations on the draft CAP regulations are ongoing, and should significant changes be proposed to the content of the draft CAP Strategic Plan and draft Regulation (COM 2018) 3921 , prior to that, this will be reflected in the Appropriate Assessment.
