Responsibility at Principal level for policy on the development of general practitioner services and negotiation of contractual arrangements under the General Medical Services (GMS) or other GP-delivered schemes; leading the development of policy approach to future GP services as a sustainable, integrated element of the wider health service, supporting the provision of greater care in the community, and leading a strategic review of the current provision of GP services under the GMS contract; leading the development of a new contractual arrangement for the expansion of GP care without charges; overseeing the implementation of the 2019 Agreement for GP Contractual Reform and Service Modernisation including the introduction of the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) programme and ensuring fee rates agreed for the provision of the services under the GMS contracts are in place.
