Responsibility for: preparing regulatory legislation for certain health professions; Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications - coordination of the Department’s policy position and its integration into regulatory policy, and assessment of applications for recognition of certain health and social care professions both within and outside scope of Directive 2005/36/EC; developing regulatory policy and governance for CORU and the professions designated under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005; developing policy on the reasoning and processes around the regulation of unregulated health and social care professions into the future; Governance and oversight of the Medical Council and the Health and Social Care Professionals Council (CORU).
