Assigned responsibility at Assistant Secretary level for the development of policies relating to company law, including auditing and accounting; competition; consumers, and the legislative framework in relation to industrial and provident societies and friendly societies.
In addition responsibility for business regulation issues concerning administrative burdens. Also responsibility for contributing to the legislative and policy work of the European Union in relation to the above issues. Responsibility for supporting and monitoring the following agencies and offices i.e. the Companies Registration Office, The Registry of Friendly Societies, the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement, the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and the Personal Injuries Assessment Board.
