Assigned responsibility at Assistant Secretary level for policy and legislation in relation to industrial relations, economic migration (including employment permits) and health and safety in the workplace.
Departmental responsibility for the delivery of positive workplace relations, robust enforcement of employment rights and well-functioning dispute resolution mechanisms including Construction Contracts Adjudication Services.
Departmental responsibility for engagement with the industrial relations bodies under the aegis of the department (Labour Court/ WRC) and the Health and Safety Authority, and for coordination and liaison with the International Labour Organisation and leads on Ireland’s engagement as Titulaire member of the Governing Body of the International Labour Organisation.
