The Pilot FES will provide the farmer with details of habitats, biodiversity and environmental information about his/her own farm. This information will be given to the farmer as part of the knowledge transfer element in order to teach and allow the farmer to farm in a way that is sensitive to nature on the individual farm.
FES Pilot 2022 is a Pilot Measure under the Transition Period of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). The FES Pilot will be a once off survey for which a flat rate payment will be made to the farmer . FES will trial ways of habitat biodiversity data collection that can be carried out at a farm scale, nationwide. The aim is to set a baseline biodiversity database for agricultural land. The intended output of FES is a farm habitat survey for each farm surveyed, with an indicator system used for habitat quality for the most common farm habitats found on Irish farms. The baseline database produced will be a starting point from which to begin to understand the extent and quality of Irelands farmed habitats. It will be used to inform and guide policy development at a high level and potentially for future targeting of schemes and actions.
The ACA will deliver the programme for the Department. The ACA will comply with all GDPR obligations to securely handle personal data.
