Ireland has a strong walking culture. Many tourists visit Ireland to walk the many trails, parks and natural areas.
The Rural Recreation Officer is the contact person for walking tourists and they provide a wide range of support and advice. They can give advice on walking conditions, access to trails and where to find further, more detailed information.
They also meet regularly with landowners to ensure that good working relationships are maintained and any concerns are addressed.
