DTR returns are used by the Department’s Inspectorate to facilitate the planning of inspections. Any data provided is processed in accordance with the provisions of data protection legislation. Arrangements for collection of deployment of teaching resources (DTR) or timetabling data have been agreed in consultation with the post-primary management bodies and the NAPD.
The formulation of school timetables, appropriate to the diverse needs of individual schools, is a core function of school managerial authorities in ensuring the effective deployment of teaching resources and the provision of a broad, high-quality educational experience for all students. School authorities must ensure the school timetable continues to provide optimum curriculum coverage for students and the best use of teaching resources.
Collection of Deployment of Teaching Resources (DTR) Returns for the 2024/2025 School Year
The procedure for submitting the DTR/Timetabling information required by the Department of Education through ESINET for the 2024/25 school year is the same as the procedure that was used in 2023/24.
What should I do first?
Contact your software package provider to ensure you are using the most up-to-date version.
What is returned?
Only teachers’ timetables are to be returned. A timetable is not to be returned for special needs assistants.
How do I cater for team teaching in the return?
If you have teachers who are team teaching please contact your software provider to assist you in entering same.
What is the closing date for generation of Deployment of Teaching Resources (DTR) (Timetabling) returns?
Timetable returns must be generated no later than Thursday, September 26th 2024.
