If you wish to place equipment such as a cherry pick, crane etc. in a public place, you must apply for a licence by completing the application form and returning it to the Castlebar Municipal District Office.
Section 254 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 governs the issuing of a Hoarding, Fencing or Scaffolding Licence. Your Local Authority may grant a licence for the construction of hoarding, fencing or scaffolding on a public road. If you wish to apply for such a licence, you will be required to submit plans, and or drawings as necessary.

1. A public liability policy in the amount of €6.5 million with a specific indemnity for Mayo County Council.
2. The appropriate fee:
Mayo County Council wishes to advise the public that it is an offence to damage or excavate a public road without the prior consent of the council in the form of a Road Opening Licence.
An application for a Road Opening Licence must be submitted online through the MapRoad Website which is administrated by the Road Management Office (RMO)
