Animal health surveillance refers to the collection, processing and dissemination of animal health and disease information.
High quality animal health surveillance is needed to protect and enhance Ireland’s superior animal health status. The department has a central role in the design, coordination and implementation of various surveillance programmes in Ireland.
Information is provided to the farming community on notifiable diseases along with updates on current outbreaks of animal disease. Details of active surveillance programmes are also available.
Information on animal health surveillance is provided through a dedicated website.
