The 2019 Rare Breed Preservation Grant provides financial support to help organisations conserve and protect Irish rare breed farm animals. These animals need to be conserved as a vital genetic resource for future generations and the benefit of agriculture.
All applications needed to demonstrate how the objectives of the scheme - to protect and conserve rare breed animals - would be met. Applications were only accepted from breeding organisations that had a track record in the preservation and promotion of rare breeds.
The organisations providing and operating the schemes, courses and promotional activities were responsible for the quality and content of the schemes.
To draw down funds, groups had to comply with the terms and conditions of the scheme. They also had to provide the required receipts and supporting documents and provide a report setting out the outcome and achievements of their project.
The closing date for applications was 1 December 2019.
