The Public Sector Laboratories Group (PSLG) is comprised of senior public servants with responsibility for leading and managing national public sector laboratory services in Ireland. Although embedded within or aligned with different Government departments, and with different governance structures and specialist areas of activity, these Laboratories, none the less, share a wide range of common challenges.
The purpose of the PSLG, therefore, is to provide a forum for senior laboratory managers to discuss issues of common interest, compare approaches to specific issues, devise activities to achieve synergies or otherwise strengthen their ability to deliver public goods and where appropriate articulate their common view with respect to areas of concern or opportunities for improvement.
Objectives
The PSLG will:
- review current issues of common interest relevant to regulatory and official science
- seek opportunities for collaboration to strengthen Ireland’s scientific infrastructure and capacity
- promote activities that encourage innovation and scientific excellence
PSLG Working Groups
The PSLG has established working groups to help achieve the objectives of the group. Membership of the working groups is not restricted to members of the PSLG.
