Giselle Gallagher is 20 and lives in a small town in Co. Sligo called Tubbercurry.
She works as a Quality Assurance Technician with a company called VisionBuilt which is also based in Tubbercurry.
They specialise in the design, manufacturing and installation of offsite rapid permanent building structures using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). Their products are manufactured using a combination of hot rolled steel and light gauge steel which is cold rolled in-house. They work in a variety of different sectors including education, life sciences & tech, residential, student accommodation, rail, healthcare, commercial and offices.
Giselle's role is to check every aspect and detail in the manufacturing of these modules to ensure it is all to the right specifications and to a high quality.
She had no prior experience in this industry when she started in August 2023. She has learned a lot in the last 8 months just from different experiences and hands on learning. She is looking forward to starting a course on Quality Management in September. She will be completing this course whilst still working full time.
Something people might not know about her is that she was out in America for college on a rugby scholarship. She was living out there for over a year playing for and attending Lindenwood University.
They were a D1 Elite team and went on to win the D1 Elite National Championship for the 5th time in a row in November 2022. However the start of her second season there was cut short as she shattered her collarbone and now has a plate and seven screws holding it together. Still a once in a lifetime opportunity which she absolutely loved.
