This College is a key component of the Further Education and Training provision in the City of Dublin ETB landscape.
Speaking today, Minister Harris said:
"Today signifies a special day in my department’s commitment to supporting and enhancing capital infrastructure in the further education and training sector across the country and in particular here in Dublin
"The significant capital project in Inchicore will enhance Further Education and Training services in the college by removing old prefabricated single storey structures and replacing them with new structures.
"This will allow the college to provide additional programmes including Skills to Advance and Traineeships as well as space to accommodate community education. These improvements will improve the learner experience and also ensure that the college becomes more accessible and inclusive to all."
The Minister added:
"I want to acknowledge the work of City of Dublin ETB in getting us to this stage with this project. I also want commend the work that they do in providing, supporting and coordinating a comprehensive range of education, training and youth services in Dublin City, that are responsive to the needs of learners and local communities.
"Inchicore College of Further Education has been identified as a key provider of FET services for its region; this development will allow the team there to further enhance their role in providing FET services to meet the critical skill needs for this region."
Funding for this project will be provided through SOLAS to CDETB. The project announced today will now move forward to the appointment of a design team, with a view to development of a more detailed project brief in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

"The ambitious scale of vision set out in the national FET strategy, Future FET: Transforming Learning, is being met by suitably ambitious investment. This funding will enable nationally coordinated and strategic action that will form the foundation of FET Colleges of the Future; greatly expand capacity; build up our national skills portfolio; strengthen pathways through and from FET; and most importantly, best serve the FET learners of today and tomorrow.
"This investment in capital is an investment in the future of FET – and most importantly, an investment in the future of the many learners in the Dublin region that it will directly benefit."
Dr. Christy Duffy, Chief Executive of CDETB, said:
"City of Dublin ETB welcomes this significant investment and the opportunities it provides for our learners. This development will form part of CDETB’s Transformation and Strategic Change programme, and our commitment to implementing a City of Dublin FET College model for all FET services in the city over the coming years."
