This paper highlights the increase in expenditure on social care services for people with a disability from 2015 to 2020 and analyses the levels of service provision and changes in services over this period. Over the six years under analysis, expenditure on these services has increased substantially from €1.53bn in 2015 to over €2.09bn in 2020.

The Irish housing market has been characterised by increasing input/output prices in recent years, undermining the capacity of households to attain homeownership and the viability/supply of development in the rental sector. Data on Government expenditure on housing is analysed and a trend of pro-cyclical capital spending is observed.
