Spending Review Papers

Below are the Spending Review papers that have been published since 2017:

The Spending Review process aims to facilitate the development of policy analysis and evaluation in support of the service-wide agenda of evidence-informed policy making. The Spending Review in 2020 resulted in 25 published papers, two of which fall into the category of social impact assessment (SIA). To make this work more accessible, two documents containing the executive summaries of the 2020 papers have also been published.

The The Spending Review process aims to improve how public expenditure is allocated across all areas of Government. The Spending Review in 2019 resulted in 28 published papers. In addition, a number of papers measuring the social impact of specific schemes and services have also been published.

The Spending Review 2018 resulted in 30 published papers across a range of key areas including staffing and workforce planning, labour market supports, key sectoral expenditure drivers and current spending on infrastructure. Three further papers were published alongside Budget 2019.

The Spending Review 2017 was the first year of the current three year process. 21 papers were published, covering topics ranging from enterprise supports to the State’s contribution to the funding of public transport. In some instances, these papers laid the foundation for further analysis in 2018 and 2019.
