The Department of Justice have entered into a Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) under the Data Sharing and Governance Act 2019 with the Office of the Revenue Commissioners for the sharing of Immigration Investor data.
The Department of Justice (Immigration Service Delivery) administers the Immigrant Investor Programme (IIP) scheme, which enables non-EEA nationals to secure immigration permission to Ireland on the basis of long-term investment of a sum of money in a project that has been approved for that purpose by the Department of Justice and other government stakeholders.
Limited data relating to successful IIP applicants is shared with the Office of the Revenue Commissioners' Exchange of Information (EOI) branch. This data is in turn exchanged with relevant tax authorities. The onward transfer of data received by the Office of the Revenue Commissioners allows Ireland to fulfil its commitments under the OECD Common Reporting Standard (CRS) by notifying the jurisdiction of tax residence of successful applicants of the IIP scheme.
