Phase 2: The revised National Development Plan 2021-2030
The revised National Development Plan 2021-2030 (NDP) is the culmination of several strands of work led by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. The Phase 1 report published in April 2020 drew upon a number of pieces of research and policy papers and followed an extensive period of public consultation.
As part of Phase 2, there was detailed engagement with Departments to agree capital allocations and priority programmes to be included in the NDP. Combined, this forms a strong evidence base which has allowed the Government to make informed decisions in developing our new and ambitious NDP.
Phase 1 Report: Review of the National Development Plan
This report gives an overview of the evidence base which has been developed by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER) as part of the review of the National Development Plan and will help inform Government on the policy decisions to be made over the coming months.
Delivering the right kind of housing in the right locations is critical to the successful delivery of Project Ireland 2040 and thereby underpins the entire plan. Given their significant policy experience in this area, the secretariat of the National Economic and Social Council was invited as part of the NDP Review to examine and recommend policy options to address the housing and urban development challenge. The NESC report which was published in November 2020.
