Organisation: Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in collaboration with Mater Transformation, HSE Spark Innovation Programme, NCAD, The City of Dublin Skin and Cancer Hospital Charity and the Mater Foundation.
Sector: Health
Amount awarded: €35,000
This project will develop a highly novel teaching tool that addresses the current gap in teaching options for dermatology. It will co-design and test an educational offering for GPs that is feasible and attractive to them and will allow hospital specialists to support GPs in managing skin conditions.
Intended outcomes:
1. Deliver a new GP educational package, system supports, GP diagnostic aid and the launch of a new Skinnovate website.
2. Increased confidence and competence in the management of common skin conditions among those GPs and undergraduate and postgraduate trainees that participate in the educational programmes.
3. Review the transferability of the Skinnovate solution to alternative nursing staff and other healthcare professionals across hospital and community that deal with skin conditions.
4. Provide faster access to care for all patients and reduced pressure on the waiting list requiring specialist and urgent Dermatology care
