For what purpose(s)?

Laois Co Co uses PPS number as a unique identifier on applications for various services including:

  • housing applications
  • loan applications
  • grant applications
  • rent assessments
  • household budget accounts
  • rental accommodation scheme
  • social housing leasing scheme
  • voluntary housing scheme
  • and mortgage allowance scheme

PPS Numbers are used for Superannuation purposes in dealing with Revenue Commissioners.

  • Higher Education Grants- renewal of existing Grants only
  • Regional Training Centres- unique identifier for employees attending training courses

Does your County Council exchange the PPS Number with any external body? If so, please name the relevant bodies and state the purpose(s) of the exchange

Yes

  • Revenue Commissioners in relation to Payroll, Superannuation, General Taxation.
  • An Post (Household Budge
  • Local Government Management Agency- N.P.P.R.
  • Approved Housing Bodies- for the purposes of housing support in identification of potential tenants.
  • the Housing Agency – for assessment of House Purchase Loans.
  • Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government (Housing Needs Assessment and Grants, NPPR).
  • LGMA – Staff Training provided through Regional Training Centres.

What future plans has your County Council for the use of the PPS Number?

Continue to use for the purpose listed and extend use to Housing Assistance Payment Scheme when implemented.
