The 20-Year Strategy for the Irish Language 2010-2030 was published on 21 December 2010, following cross-party support in the Houses of the Oireachtas.
Founded on a comprehensive consultative and research process, the Strategy promotes a holistic, integrated approach to the Irish language which is consistent with international best practice.
The Programme for a Partnership Government, published in 2016, makes specific reference to the 20-Year Strategy for the Irish Language 2010-2030 and states that the government needs to systematically implement it.
As the department responsible for broadcasting and media policy, we recognise the key role we have to play in the successful implementation of the Strategy.
Our implementation plan in relation to the Strategy is available here.
