Mining Facility Notices

The Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) publishes notices to inform the public where a mining licence is about to be granted. The public can make submissions or objections to a mining facility within 28 days from publication of the notice. Once a licence to mine private minerals has been granted, a further notice is published to allow potential owners of mineral rights to register those rights and to claim compensation. Mining is subject to planning permission, so an opportunity to make submissions or objections is also provided through the planning process.
