6 Monthly Analysis

The cost of collecting household waste showed little substantive change across six months of price data from August 2019 to January 2020. 75% of prices remained unchanged during this time.

Comparing apples to apples

In August 2019, there was a total of 49 different price plans on offer across the 26 markets firms operate in. By January 2020, this had decreased to 46. Of the 46 offered in January, 45 were common to those on offer in August. This means that when comparing the actual prices quoted for the collection of residential waste, there is a big set of comparable data.

Price Points

Across the 46 price plans in January, the following price points are tracked:

  • Service Charge
  • Lift Charge for Waste, Recycling and Compost
  • Per KG Charges for waste, Recycling and Compost
  • Per KG excess charges for Waste, Recycling and Compost

There were 130 price points common between August 2019 and January 2020. Across the 130, seventy-five percent (97) were unchanged. Where prices did change, 16% (21) increased and 9% (12) decreased.

How prices changed
