Consent Resources

Consent < Consent Resources

The Department of Justice has for a number of years partnered with two organisations to provide online hubs that make available a wide range of consent resources.

We-Consent

‘We-Consent’, run by the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, is a long-term national programme to inform, educate and engage with all members of our society about consent.

The We-Consent website can be found at www.we-consent.ie and has lots of information and resources on the topic of consent such as:

  • Information specific for parents, young people, for survivors of sexual violence and the LGBTQ+ community;
  • Information on topics such as trauma and its impact, the law and legal system, advice for supporting others, masculinity and media representation;
  • A series of Toolkits to support people in learning about consent on topics such as consent conversation skills, self-reflection, and supporting others.
  • ‘We-Speak’ a secure, anonymous online platform that aims to empower survivors of sexual violence to safely tell their own stories, in their own time, in their own words.

Consenthub.ie

www.consenthub.ie is an online learning hub launched run by the Active* Consent team in NUI Galway. Consenthub.ie’s aim is to support young people in Ireland and those that are important to them, such as teachers, parents, and college staff, to enhance knowledge and skills of consent as a key component of positive sexual health and well-being.

It provides readily accessible resources which, importantly, supports not only the education sector but society wide participation in consent education and awareness. The resources currently available through the online consent hub include:

  • Targeted information including consent definitions and explanations of consent;
  • FAQs for each target group (under 17, youth over 17, parents, teachers/educators)
  • Self-directed eLearning module for young people on consent, sexual violence and harassment
  • Information on how and where to get help if a negative sexual experience occurs to you or a friend
  • Research on consent carried out with adolescents, young adults, and educators in Ireland
  • information on further training and resources.
