Over the past two decades Ireland has experienced relatively low application numbers for international protection when compared with the EU and UK.
Ireland, like other EU Member States, has seen an increase in applicants for International Protection since the resumption of international travel interrupted during the Covid-19 pandemic. The war in Ukraine is also having an impact.
