€1 million in funding for Community CCTV schemes announced

Minister for Justice Helen McEntee announced a further €1 million for the development of Local Authority led CCTV schemes in specific communities.
Inviting Local Authorities to apply for the funding the Minister said:
"The scheme is currently open and I encourage all local authorities to develop proposals for schemes in their areas in partnership with local community interests. I also encourage interested community groups to engage with their Local Authority to highlight needs for schemes in their areas.
"Grants of over €950,000 have been approved to date for 35 local CCTV schemes and the new wave of funding underlines my department’s commitment to work with Local Authorities to promote community safety. It’s a top priority for this government. Everyone has the right to feel safe and be safe in their communities."
