This week there was a trade mission to New York to promote Ireland as EU hub for conducting international legal business. Minister Browne spoke at several events held in various locations around Manhattan, addressing topics such as Ireland’s commercial court, legal changes and precedents in Ireland and New York, corporate restructuring and corporate insolvency, and the financial services sector.
The trade mission was organised by Ireland for Law, a government-supported initiative, established by the Minister for Justice in 2019. Ireland for Law promotes Irish Law and Irish Legal Services to the international business community, particularly for commercial sectors. It is among a number of initiatives that form part of Ireland’s response to Brexit.
The Minister was joined by Ireland for Law implementation group members David Barnville, President of the High Court of Ireland and Rossa Fanning, Attorney General of Ireland during the trip, which took between Tuesday 3 September and Thursday 5 September.

Minister of State Browne said:
"I was delighted to participate in this important trade mission to New York to highlight the benefits of using Irish legal services.
"Events such as these create opportunities to promote the many advantages to the international business community working with Irish legal professionals, particularly in areas where Ireland is already recognised as a world leader in aviation, finance, funds, insurance, tech, pharma and life sciences."
The Ireland for Law implementation group also includes representatives of the Bar of Ireland, the Law Society, the Departments of Justice, Finance, Foreign Affairs, and Enterprise, Trade and Employment. IDA Ireland is also a key partner.
This week’s visit to New York forms part of a continuing series of international events highlighting Ireland’s unique attributes as a centre for international legal services to a US audience of senior commercial lawyers, counsel, and executives.
