Exporting firearms to another EU member state as a registered firearms dealer

If you wish to export firearms to an EU member state as a registered firearms dealer, you must:

  • Complete the form below fully, including the exact makes and models of the firearms and the correct Category A-C
  • Obtain a Removal Order from the Superintendent of An Garda Síochána in the district where the Firearms are currently located. A copy will have to be sent to the Department of Justice with the application.

If you are exporting restricted firearms or restricted ammunition, you will first need an authorisation to trade in restricted firearms from the Department of Justice.

Exporting firearms to another EU member state as an individual

If you wish to export firearms to an EU member state as an individual, you must:

  • complete the form below fully, including the exact makes and models of the firearms and the correct Category A-C
  • include a copy of the valid firearm certificate for the firearm to be exported

If you do not have a valid firearm certificate, you must apply to a Garda superintendent for a document entitled an Authorisation for Export or Removal and submit a copy of this document with the application

Forward the documentation to the Firearms and Explosives Licencing Unit of the Department of Justice.

Exports outside the EU

Exports to countries which are not member states of the EU are dealt with by the Export Licensing Unit of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment.
