These Regulations give full effect in Irish law to the provisions of the Regulation (EU) 2019/1020 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 by amending the European Union (Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres) Regulations 2017 (SI No 230 of 2017) that gave effect to Directive 2014/34/EU (known as ATEX).
