Community Centre Investment Fund: Almost 600 Community Centres benefit from €12.5 million fund

  • community centres in every county will benefit from grants of up to €25,000
  • further funding announcements for larger scale projects to follow

Almost 600 Community Centres across the country will benefit from over €12.5 million in fresh funding for upgrade and development works.

The new Community Centre Investment Fund (CCIF) will support groups in every county to carry out refurbishments and improvements of their local community facility.

The funding represents the largest single investment in community centres in decades.

Grants of up to €25,000 have been approved for 580 groups in both rural and urban communities.

The funding will see improvements to community centres, GAA clubs, parish halls, youth centres, men’s sheds and facilities used by elderly people.

Among the capital works that will be carried out thanks to the funding include:

  • upgrading heating systems
  • energy retrofitting
  • installing new windows and doors
  • improving kitchen facilities
  • upgrading toilet facilities
  • improving disability access
  • the development of Community Cinemas, Youth Hubs and Community Libraries
  • essential maintenance works
  • works to address safety concerns
