Minister Ring visits initiatives supported by his Department in Donegal

Over €41,000 announced for wheelchair accessible vehicle in Derrybeg

The Minister Rural and Community Development, Mr Michael Ring, TD, is today visiting projects and initiatives supported by his Department in Donegal. During the course of his visit, Minister Ring will travel to Letterkenny, Dunfanaghy, Glenveagh Castle, Glenties and Leghowney.

During his visit to the county, Minister Ring announced that he has allocated funding for a wheelchair accessible vehicle for the community in Derrybeg through his Department’s CLÁR Programme.

Speaking about his visit to Donegal, Minister Ring said:

“I am delighted to be in Donegal today to see the impact of the supports provided by my Department on communities throughout the county. Already this year, Donegal has been allocated more than €9.5 million to support communities throughout the county. Only Dublin and Cork have been allocated more from my Department.”

“I am delighted to announce €41,480 in funding for a wheelchair accessible vehicle for Coiste Ionad Lae na Sean Daoine under Measure 4 of my Department’s CLÁR Programme. This vehicle will transport people from Gweedore, The Rosses and Cloughaneely to the Day Centre in Derrybeg on a daily basis. I have no doubt that it will bring great benefit to these communities.

“It’s great to visit Letterkenny, Dunfanaghy, Glenveagh Castle, Glenties and Leghowney and to see the impact of the supports being provided by the Department of Rural and Community Development.

“Last night in Letterkenny I met the staff of the Donegal Red Cross and was shown the two brand new ambulances which were purchased with funds provided by my Department to replace the ambulances destroyed in the flooding in Inishowen last year. I was delighted that my Department was able to support the local community in this way after the terrible impact of the flooding. Having met the ambulance staff, I have no doubt of the impact that this investment has had.”
