What this is about

Under the Framework, data sharing agreements between public bodies for the purpose of sharing personal data will be made available for public consultation for a period of 28 days.

What we are consulting on

The Department of Foreign Affairs, intends to enter into a Data Sharing Agreement under the DSGA with An Garda Síochána for the purpose of notifying the Next of Kin of an Irish Citizen who is deceased or seriously injured overseas.

This Data Sharing Agreement covers sharing of Personal Data, in limited circumstances, by the Department of Foreign Affairs with An Garda Síochána for this purpose. This data is shared with An Garda Síochána so that it may confirm, and subsequently notify, the Next of Kin of the deceased or seriously injured person as to the particular condition of the individual overseas.
