Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence, Thomas Byrne, has launched the 2025 round of the Communicating Europe Initiative today.
The Communicating Europe Initiative provides government funding to voluntary organisations, educational bodies and civil society groups and bodies, for projects intended to deepen public awareness of the role that the European Union plays in our daily lives.
The Communicating Europe Initiative seeks to improve the quality and accessibility of public information on European issues, at local, regional or national level.
Under the 2025 round of the Communicating Europe Initiative, €400,000 is being made available to eligible applicants, representing an increase from €330,000 provided in 2024. Applications for funding under the 2025 round are sought with the theme of “The EU as a catalyst for change”.
Speaking at the launch today, Minister Byrne said: “In responding to the shared challenges that the European Union faces today, the need for a well-informed and engaged public, has never been greater. Through funding provided by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Communicating Europe Initiative empowers local communities, educational institutions, and civil society organisations across Ireland, to strengthen their links with the EU. I strongly encourage all applicants to apply to this valuable initiative and join in the conversation about the future of our shared Union.”
