Minister Fleming opens call for applications to Civil Society Fund

Minister of State for International Development and Diaspora, Seán Fleming T.D., today launched the call for applications to the 2025 Civil Society Fund. This Irish Aid fund supports NGOs to implement projects in countries which are eligible to receive Official Development Assistance.

Inviting applications, Minster Fleming said:

“The Civil Society Fund supports NGOs to implement development projects in a wide range of important areas, including education, health, human rights and peacebuilding. This vital work is helping poor and vulnerable communities create better lives for themselves and their families.

“In my visits overseas, I have seen first-hand the positive impact of the work of Irish Aid’s NGO partners on those who need it most. Their work is instrumental in improving standards of living and reaching those who are furthest behind.

“Our NGO partners are also a strong voice in advocating for human rights. At a time of growing challenges to human rights values worldwide, this is more important than ever.

“I look forward to receiving high quality applications for funding which will help improve the lives of those furthest behind in these countries.”

The Civil Society Fund (CSF) primarily supports Irish NGOs to carry out specific development projects overseas of up to five years duration. A limited number of international NGOs working on human rights are also invited to apply. The maximum available grant is €800,000 per annum. The total allocation for the fund in 2024 was €7 million.

The call for proposals to the 2025 Civil Society Fund opens today. The closing date for receipt of Eligibility Forms is 5.00pm 6 September 2024.

Responses to eligibility applications will issue by end-September 2024, and application forms will follow by email to eligible organisations. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 5.00pm on 8 November 2024.
