New Ambassadors present Credentials - 1 July 2025

His Excellency, Daniel Espiritu, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, Her Excellency, Esra Cankorur, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye and His Excellency Edward Sharp Walsh, Ambassador of the United States of America, presented their Letters of Credence to President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin today.
His Excellency, Daniel Espiritu, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines, was accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Carryn Sarsuelo Espiritu, and Mr. Eric R. Aquino, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines.
Her Excellency, Esra Cankorur, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, was accompanied by Mr. Hüseyin Alper Özcan, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye.
His Excellency, Edward Sharp Walsh, Ambassador of the United States of America was accompanied by his spouse Ms. Lynn Walsh, along with members of his immediate family and Mr. Michael Clausen, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the United States of America.
Simon Harris, Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade and Minister for Defence, attended to represent the government.
The following were also present: Mr. George Burke, Deputy Secretary General to the President; Ms. Sonja Hyland, Deputy Secretary General, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Mr. Ralph Victory, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Col. Tom McGrath, Comdt. Brian Walsh, Capt. Austin Doyle and Capt. Pol O’Donnell, Aides-de-Camp to the President; Ms. Claire Callaghan and Mr. Joe Brennan, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The Ambassadors were accompanied to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2 Brigade Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Second Lieutenant Bobby Smith.
A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 1 Mechanised Infantry Company, Defence Forces Training Centre, Curragh Camp, Co. Kildare under the command of Lieutenant Darragh Buckley.
Lieutenant William Kiernan from 1 Mechanised Infantry Company, Defence Forces Training Centre, Curragh Camp. Co. Kildare was the flag officer.
Captain Tom Kelly conducted the No. 1 Army Band, which is based in Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin.
